On the occasion of the launch of The Alumni Magazine, I am honored to share our vision and commitment to a renewed Al Akhawayn Alumni Association (AAA), one that is built on the principle of paving it forward, not just as a slogan, but as a guiding roadmap for our association’s future.

Our journey to restructure AAA has been both challenging and rewarding. We understand that to truly thrive and achieve long term growth, we must no longer rely solely on the elected boards, but we must create a self-sustaining, dynamic foundation rooted in our alumni community. With this in mind, our Board of Executives has worked on key initiatives targeted at achieving this goal.

‘Chapters’ have been established around the world, creating geographical hubs that enable alumni to connect, collaborate, and support each other through an AAA that exists wherever our alumni are. We’ve also seen ‘Clubs’ bring together alumni who share common passions and interests. Both have been a true testament to the vibrant community we aim to cultivate within our association. You can read more about these initiatives and more in the AAA Key Activities & Achievements section of this magazine.

Our aim with this approach is to build a restructured association where its Board of Executives acts as an enabler, while activities are the fruit of a dynamic bottom-up led by its alumni. Our association can only exist as long as its alumni are involved and engaged.

As we leap further in our community-building efforts, we have taken significant steps to ensure AAA’s sustainability and longevity. We have launched an official portal that serves as a central hub for all AAA activities, making it easier for alumni to connect, find information, and engage with our association. In addition to that, we have appointed a dedicated full-time AAA Project Manager to manage the association’s day-to-day affairs and ensure AAA lives throughout the different Boards of Executives that lead it. This commitment underscores our determination to rebuild trust, enhance transparency, and strengthen our association.

As we move forward with this vision, I invite each of you to take an active role in shaping the future of our AAA. Propose clubs that align with your interests, suggest chapters in regions that matter to you, and bring forward ideas and events that will enrich our community. Together, we can ensure that AAA becomes a vibrant platform that empowers our alumni to excel and contribute to society.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to shape the bright future of the Al Akhawayn Alumni Association.

HAMZA EL MERAY, Class of 2013, President, Al Akhawayn Alumni Association
