Casablanca, Morocco (April 30, 2022) — In an initiative to foster a sense of community and belonging during the holy month of Ramadan, over 200 alumni from Al Akhawayn University gathered across 11 cities around the globe for the Ramadan 2022 Ftours. This series of events, organized by the Al Akhawayn Alumni Association, is aimed at bringing together old friends, enabling networking with new acquaintances, and shifting the focus away from the traditional Casablanca axis, allowing alumni around the world to connect on a global scale.

Traditionally, the Al Akhawayn Alumni Association's events centered around the Casablanca axis, limiting the scope for alumni worldwide to engage and participate actively in the community. However, this year's Ramadan Ftours initiative, with the support of dedicated volunteer alumni, marked a significant shift in the association's approach, facilitating global connectivity.

The gatherings took place in more than 11 cities spread across different continents, showcasing the vast reach and impact of the Al Akhawayn alumni network. From Chicago to Dubai, Paris to Agadir, alumni enthusiastically came together to observe the cherished traditions of Ramadan, share iftar meals, and create lasting memories.

Commenting on the initiative, Hamza El Meray, President of the Al Akhawayn Alumni Association, expressed his delight in witnessing such widespread participation and engagement. He stated, "Ramadan is a time of reflection, gratitude, and solidarity. Seeing our community of alumni come together across various corners of the world to celebrate this sacred month is a testament to the enduring bonds formed during their time at Al Akhawayn University. We are proud to have provided a platform that transcends borders and unites alumni in the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood."

The success of the Ramadan 2022 Ftours has inspired Al Akhawayn Alumni Association to continue hosting similar global initiatives in the future. By promoting inclusivity and embracing diversity, the Association seeks to create a stronger and more tightly-knit community that thrives on shared values and common experiences.
